All About the Brows
Our eyebrows sometimes seem like they make be taking up a life of their own! In terms of outward appearance, eyebrows frame the face, and they set the tone of our feelings of being alert, surprised, or annoyed. The frame helps us to totally pay attention to what’s inside. Here are a few fun facts: Most of us have over 200 hairs per brow. Furthermore, lashes and brows regularly fall out, lasting only a few months and the arches serve to divert liquids like sweat and rain to the sides of the face. Crazy right? So, when we start to feel a little crazy about our brows we must remember – they are new here!
These can be helpful hints for great results when considering brow services!
Allow 2 – 6 weeks of recovery for skin treated with any topical prescription medication, microdermabrasion, laser, or chemical skin peels.
Allow 24 hours before or after rapid exfoliating and tanning beds, or sunbathing.
Prudent skin care is important following any waxing treatment. Use only antiseptic or antibacterial solutions after waxing to ensure the best results.
Allow 10-14 days of hair growth for best results prior to any brow service.
Behind the scenes of an eyebrow reset, there is waxing, tweezing, threading, tinting, lamination etc. It can get a bit overwhelming so here are some of the technical bits:
Waxing is the process of hair removal from the root by using wax and then removing with a covering and pulling out the hair from the follicle. New hair will not grow back in the previously waxed area for three to six weeks (although some people will start to see regrowth in only a week due to some of their hair being on a different growth cycle).
Tweezing of course is a process by which you can pluck, grasp, or pull hairs with tweezers. The plus side is the convenience of being able to do this yourself. The downside is you have to squint from one eye to see what you’re doing, which is not easy.
Threading is a method of hair removal originating in India and Central Asia. Threading is a preferred method if you are contraindicative to waxing. Please keep in mind that it is virtually impossible to “pull hair out” without pulling the hair out, which will be uncomfortable, no matter the method.
Brow Tinting is a service that utilizes a semi-permanent hair dye specially designed to be used on lashes and brows. Brow tinting is great for covering “light” or “blondish” hairs creating depth and the definition that we all need especially as we get to a certain stage in life.
